Jana Freebairn, HRZ Southern Extension Agronomist, WeedSmart
Jana joined the WeedSmart team as the Southern Extension Agronomist (HRZ) in 2021. Jana is an Agribusiness Consultant at Pinion Advisory. As a member of the agronomy team, her client base is located through the Mid and Lower North regions of South Australia. Jana is passionate about delivering whole-of-farm business advice to growers, with a keen focus on gross margin optimisation. She readily refers to the WeedSmart Big 6 when working with growers to implement IWM strategies.
Peter Boutsalis, Plant Science Consulting
Peter has been involved with weeds and herbicide resistance his entire career starting from 1989.
Currently he is employed with the Uni of Adelaide investigating shifts in herbicide resistance across SA, Vic and Tasmania since 2005. These random weed surveys are funded by the GRDC. Additionally, he is the director of Plant Science Consulting, conducting herbicide resistance testing from growers nationally.
Tim Murphy, Bayer
Tim Murphy is the Technical Services Agronomist in South Australia for Bayer CropScience. Working for over 25 years for Bayer CropScience, with the last 7 years in South Australia. His current role has him conducting trial work throughout the South Australian production areas. Tim has a passion for resistance management, focusing on the long-term viability of production systems and the implementation of sustainable weed control.
Mark Slatter, Nufarm
Mark manages the Field R&D team for Nufarm in Australia. He is involved with the development of Terrain in Australia across the broadacre crops since we started the R&D trials for that product in 2014.
John Stevenson, Warakirri Cropping
John Stevenson is the Southern Regional Manager for Warakirri Cropping, a national broadacre dryland cropping business owned by Australia’s REST Super. John has been with the business since inception in 1997 and has managed farms in the Junee, Dalby and Lockhart areas in that period. Johns current role is as a support to farm managers at Warakirri’s Donald, Hopetoun, Lockhart and Ardlethan aggregations. John is based at Swan Hill.
