Webinar 4: Fighting Fleabane!
Fleabane giving you grief? Join our next webinar for a cross-country look at what is and isn’t working for fleabane control in each growing region.
Gain a better understanding of the differences between species, Big 6 management strategies and preventing resistance.
The webinar will be hosted by WeedSmart’s northern and southern extension agronomists, Paul McIntosh, Greg Condon and Chris Davey. They will be joined by regional research experts, Dr Michael Widderick (DPI, QLD) and Dr Harmohinder Dhammu (DPIRD, WA).

Meet the Presenters
Paul McIntosh
Paul is one of WeedSmart’s Northern Extension Agronomists, based in Toowoomba, QLD. With more than 40 years of agronomy experience in the northern region, which offers both winter and summer crop options, Paul is familiar with the unique farming issues and opportunities that come with such diversity in the region.
Greg Condon
Greg is one of WeedSmart’s Northern Extension Agronomists (Vic and NSW), based in Junee, NSW. He runs Grassroots Agronomy with his wife Kirrily Condon. Greg works with growers and industry groups and is passionate about profitable farming systems. Connecting innovative growers with agronomists, stakeholders and researchers is a major focus of Greg’s extension role.
Chris Davey
Chris became the WeedSmart Southern Extension Agronomist (Vic and SA) in 2020. He has been an agronomist on the Yorke Peninsula for over 25 years, and has seen rapid change with weed resistance over that period due to the continuous cropping nature of that region. Chris started his own consultancy, Next Level Agronomy, in 2023 and has a passion for helping his clients develop non-chemical (IWM) tools to combat annual ryegrass resistance. Chris is a keen promoter of these strategies in the industry.
Dr Michael Widderick
Dr Michael Widderick is a Principal Research Scientist in weed science at Queensland’s
Department of Primary Industries. Michael has over 26 years experience in weed research in
broadacre production systems, spanning weed biology and ecology, understanding herbicide
resistance and development and evaluation of tactics and strategies for the improved control of
weeds.
Dr Harmohinder Dhammu
Dr Harmohinder Dhammu is a Senior Research Scientist with the WA Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development. His recent GRDC funded research identified alternative double-knock strategies that can provide excellent fleabane control, even of mature plants.
